Ride the Mt. Washington Cog Railway Train

Experience the scenic, educational and historic summit of Mt. Washington...the highest peak in the Northeast!
Climb aboard the amazing Mt. Washington Cog Railway and enjoy the ride to the breathtaking summit.  Plan to spend no less than three hours experiencing the Mt. Washington Cog Railway which includes one hour on the summit and additional time to experience the train system's museum. The cog railway is the world's first mountain climbing train. On a clear day visitors can see as far north as Canada and east to the Atlantic Ocean. The Mt> Washington Cog Railway has operated since 1868.  More than five million visitors have reached the summit of Mount Washington aboard this one of a kind train experience.  Trains run rain or shine and visitors have the option of riding steam or bio-diesel trains.  The historic steam train leaves most days at 8:30am.  Dress appropriately...the temperature on the summit can vary significantly from the train's base station.  Most importantly, bring your camera as you will have the opportunity to take amazing pictures both from the train and from Mount Washington's breathtaking summit.

Personal note from the hotel's General Manager...
"The Mt. Washington Cog Railway is a do not miss experience while vacationing in Northern New Hampshire or Vermont.  While everyone wants a perfect "blue sky day" to ride the cog.  One of my favorite personal experiences riding the cog with my family was on an overcast day.  The temperature was 20 degrees lower on the summit and the winds were almost hurricane strength.  The multi-generational pictures of us all leaning into the wind laughing were better than seeing any mountain range."

Mt. Washington Cog was an amazing experience!

We were visiting in late April for a basketball tournament. Unfortunately, my daughter's team was out of competition earlier than anticipated. The hotel offers a great deal on experiencing the Mt. Washington Cog. We bought the package for our last night and brought my parents along for the experience. As a result we had two seniors, my wife and I in our forties, a 19, 15, and 7 year old. EVERYONE loved the experience. It was an incredibly clear day. The views on the ride up, from the summit and on the way down were amazing. We all agreed that it was one of the neatest experiences we've ever had together.
